The southeast corner of Peachtree and Cain (now International) has a story that stretches from a banker's home to governors to the finest hotels. A quirk of fate gave the spot an edge at the end of prohibition.

This is probably my favorite Wikipedia article that I've worked on. Abrams' name kept popping up here and there in things I read about Reconstruction-era Atlanta so I wrote out a short "stub" with what little I knew: he was one of three owners of the Atlanta Herald with Henry Grady and Robert Alston and that he later moved to Florida. A few months later I heard from a Project Gutenburg editor asking if it might be the same guy who wrote a book called The Trials of a Soldier's Wife. It was and that opened the flood-gates. He survived the seige of Vicksburg (and wrote a book about which I would love to read!), his work in New York City, his battles with Gov. Brown, and various business ventures. I think somebody could write a great book about him.
