Great interview on City Cafe this week about the laying of the cornerstone of the Capitol building in September 1885. They don't mention it but the great poet of the lost cause,Father Ryan, gave the blessing for the proceedings.

Somebody from the Atlanta Preservation Center posted a link to this great vintage ad for the old Plaza Drugs at Ponce and Highland. This was before it became the sleazy late-nite hangout that we all knew and loved

Sam Massell interview

Steve Goss of WABE did a great interview with Sam Massell this week. They aired a few 5 minute snippets on the radio but online you can get the whole 20-plus minutes. They talk about a good variety of topics including the demographic changes in the early 70's, Buckhead development including the death of the club scene and his thoughts on the Peachtree streetcar. There was even a nice little trivia quiz that Steve struggled with but then he swooped in For The Win!
